In less than 2 years Brooke Monk has amassed more than 16 million fans on social network TikTok. However, when she spoke to CNBC Monk said she never had a plan to become an influencer.

Monk posted the first TikTok blog in the month of September of 2019 and since then, she's gained 16.1 million followers as well as 1.2 billion views on her posts.

An 18-year-old U.S. influencer revealed to CNBC in the most recent instalment of "Marketing Media Money" that it wasn't her goal to gain a large number of followers or be famous, but rather the fact that she truly loved creating videos for the social networks.

"I love having an audience, I love reading people's comments, I love interacting with people," Monk explained, pointing out the difficulty of not knowing all the people online was what prompted her to write more frequently because she was thrilled to see the comments.

Monk believed that the key to making content that was popular on a platform such as TikTok was to create posts about topics that people could relate to "like little mundane things that everyone's experienced in their life."

She also stated that it is important for influencers to pay attention to the opinions of their followers and to be positive and encouraging in their social channels.

"I feel like the majority of audiences start to feel disconnected from their influencers when they get too big and then they don't really care about their audience anymore," Monk declared.

The life of a TikTok influencer

Monk believes it's crucial that brands don't alter the style of an influencer. In the event of a change, she warned, it could make the content appear sponsored, similar to an "face holding a product," which could cause the influencer's fame begin to diminish.

She believes that brands will work with influencers more often in the near future "because audiences feel more connected to an influencer, if they see their daily life and they're just watching their content, as opposed to celebrities or even commercials or infomercials."

The popularity of TikTok has increased dramatically in the wake of the pandemic. In June of 2020, the amount of U.S. month active users increased to over 90 million, up from 27 million in the year prior.

Monk stated that she realized she'd gained a following when people began asking her about the products for her hair and makeup she was using.

The secret behind the music that you hear on TikTok

Monk hasn't revealed her earnings. According to the latest data from the music licensing platform Lickd.co, in order to earn an annual income of $100,000 on TikTok users would require at least 10,000 followers, or subscribers and receive over 270 million views of clips per year.  You can also buy all these services from any of the social servicing platforms. i.e; Buy TikTok Followers or Views from BuyFollowersMalaysia.

Regarding the method by which Monk discovers the brands that appear on her TikToks, she stated that brands actually communicate with her the most often.

In terms of the way she promotes products in her blog posts, Monk said that if she is creatively free, then she'll try to integrate it into general content she's already be producing. If not she will stick to whatever is the "brand's comfortable with." However, Monk stressed that she will not endorse a product in the event that she doesn't feel comfortable with it.
